Jitender Sareen

Dr. Jitender Sareen is a full-time Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Manitoba, with cross-appointments in the Faculty of Arts (Psychology) and Max Rady College of Medicine (Community Health Sciences). He serves as Provincial Specialty Lead for Mental Health and Addictions at Shared Health.

• Member of Anxiety Disorders Association of America and Canadian Psychiatric Association

His research spans PTSD, suicide prevention, psychiatric epidemiology, Indigenous mental health, military/veterans' mental health, and digital health technologies. Dr. Sareen has secured over $20 million in grants, including a CIHR Foundation Grant for PTSD research in vulnerable populations.

He presented to Canadian federal committees on veterans' health and public safety personnel. His work has influenced national policies on suicide prevention and PTSD treatment.
