Jinyan Guo

Jinyan Guo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at SUNY Oswego. She teaches courses including Plant Kingdom (BIO340), Plants and Society (BIO341), Evolution (BIO425), and Research in Plant Biology (BIO492). Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Botany from California Botanic Garden (Claremont Graduate University), an M.S. in Cell Biology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a B.S. in Horticulture from China Agricultural University.

Research focuses on plant morphology, anatomy, and development, with emphasis on floral and leaf structures in Iridaceae (iris family) and ferns. Key areas include gynoecium anatomy, fern petiole biomechanics, and molecular controls of plant architecture.
