About
Jingrun Ran is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Adelaide, where he also earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering. His research focuses on the atomic-level design and synthesis of photocatalysts for solar energy-driven reactions like plastic reforming, biomass conversion, CO2 reduction, and light alkane activation, supported by state-of-the-art in-situ/ex-situ characterizations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. He leads the development of industrial reactor systems for practical solar-driven photocatalytic applications.
Research interests include:
- Atomic-scale regulation of photocatalysts
- Solar-to-chemical energy conversion
- Plastic and biomass upcycling
- CO2 conversion technologies
- Photocatalysis and photothermal systems
- Structure-performance relationships in catalysts
Scientific accolades:
- ARC Future Fellowship (2023)
- ARC DECRA Fellowship (2020)
- Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (2020-2024)
- Elsevier and Stanford University Top 2% Scientists (2020-2024)
- Journal of Materials Chemistry A Emerging Investigator (2021)
He is eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students and has published 69+ papers with over 20,722 citations (h-index: 43) in journals like Nature Communications and Advanced Materials.
