Jing Jiang

Jing Jiang is a Professor of Chinese and Humanities at Reed College, where she has taught since 2006. Her work bridges modern Chinese literature, Sinophone film, and transnational cultural studies.

• BA and MA in English Language and Literature from Nanjing University and Peking University
• PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor

Her research focuses on 20th-century Chinese literature and culture, emphasizing translation practices and cross-border literary analysis. At Reed, she teaches courses on modern Chinese literature, post-socialist and Sinophone cinema, and advanced Chinese language. She also contributes to interdisciplinary committees like Film and Media Studies and Comparative Literature.

Jiang’s publications include work on writer Xiao Hong, early modern Chinese drama, Feng Xiaogang’s films, and a short book on Chinese science fiction published by the Association for Asian Studies (AAS). Her current research project, “The World Embedded in Modern Chinese Literary Imagination,” is supported by the inaugural ACLS Fellowship in Chinese and Comparative Literature.
