Jim Strode

Jim Strode is the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and O’Bleness Professor of Sports Management at Ohio University’s College of Business. He leads undergraduate curriculum development, academic advising, and career services. His research focuses on philanthropy in athletics, coaching effectiveness, and gender equity. Strode holds a PhD in Sport and Exercise Management from The Ohio State University (2006), an MA from the same institution (2003), and a BBA in Marketing and Management from the University of Wisconsin (2002).

His research interests include advancing equitable practices in sport leadership and innovative teaching methods. Recent work explores faculty-to-faculty incivility and alumni giving motivations. Strode has presented globally at conferences like NASSM and EASM.

He previously chaired the Sports Administration program, developing DEI initiatives and experiential learning partnerships. As ODU’s former Dean of Graduate Studies, he transitioned programs to online formats and enhanced student professional development.
