Jim Lepore

Jim Lepore is a Professor in the School of Dance at George Mason University, specializing in modern dance, somatic awareness, and African diasporic dance traditions of the Caribbean. Since 1994, he has focused on Afro-Cuban dance forms through academic study, performance, and sponsorship of Cuban artists in the U.S.

Research and Activities:

• Teaches courses like DANC 118 - World Dance (Afro-Cuban), DANC 119 - Dance in Popular Culture: Afro-Latino Dance, and DANC 410 - Contemporary Movement Theories (Somatics)
• Organizes study abroad programs in Cuba for U.S. students
• Performs with ensembles such as Ashe Moyuba, Havana Select, and Alafia
