Jim Hop

Jim Hop is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Entrepreneurship at Northwood University. He emphasizes practical application of business theories, leveraging real-world case studies and student-led project presentations to foster entrepreneurial skills. A firm believer in the Free Market System, he integrates his extensive industry experience into teaching.

Education: BA in Accounting from Hope College and MBA from Northwood University’s DeVos Graduate School.

Research and teaching focus on entrepreneurship education, small business finance, and real-world business challenges. He prioritizes experiential learning, encouraging students to develop their own ideas and present them.

Professional Experience: Over 25 years in banking, manufacturing, and service industries, including roles as President/part owner of MedAudit Services, Vice President/CFO of Packaging Direct, and Vice President in Corporate Banking at Comerica Bank.

Philosophy: Prioritizes real-world business applications, free market principles, and student engagement through case studies and presentations.
