Jim DeCaro

Jim DeCaro serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in Music Education at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, bringing decades of K-12 music education experience including 20 years at Edgewood Junior High School and 10 years in Indianapolis Lawrence Township Schools.

He earned a Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) in 1979 and a Master of Music (M.M.) in clarinet performance in 1981, both from Indiana University.

His professional expertise centers on Music Education with specialized focus in Band Directing and Jazz Education, demonstrated through award-winning program development and statewide leadership in Indiana music education.

DeCaro currently supervises Jacobs School music education student teachers and maintains an active performance career with ensembles including the Indiana Wind Symphony, Indianapolis Symphonic Band, and St. Luke’s Orchestra.
