Jillian Sortore

Jillian Sortore is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Texas at San Antonio within the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. Her work spans sculpture, metals, and jewelry design, focusing on wearable art and contemporary craft using diverse materials.

• Education: MFA (2010) from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, BFA (2006) in Jewelry Design and Metals from Pittsburg State University

Research Interests: Exploring intersections of sculpture and adornment, her practice combines traditional metalsmithing with experimental materials to create cheerful, lightweight jewelry and bold wearable sculptures.

Publications & Exhibitions: Featured in prominent art publications including 500 Rings, The Art of Jewelry, and Art Jewelry Magazine. Maintains an active studio practice alongside teaching.
