Jillian Nissen

Jillian Nissen is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in Biological Sciences at the State University of New York at Old Westbury. Her research focuses on neuroscience, immunology, and medical research, particularly exploring microglial function in neurological disorders and the effects of pharmacological agents like cannabidiol (CBD). She has contributed to interdisciplinary education initiatives through micro-credentialing programs in STEM labs and developed inclusive models for undergraduate science education. Her work bridges basic science with translational research, addressing topics such as multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and autoimmune encephalomyelitis.
