Jillian Mccarthy

Jillian Mccarthy is a Senior Lecturer in Health Management at Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. She holds additional roles as a member of the NHS Research Ethics Committee NorthWest and serves as an external examiner for postgraduate programs at the University of West London. Her expertise spans healthcare leadership, patient experience, ethical issues in healthcare, and technology-enhanced learning in healthcare education. She contributes to the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson MSc in Healthcare Leadership program as a program director and cohort lead, while also supervising Master’s and Doctoral students.

Dr. Mccarthy’s academic qualifications include a Doctor of Education (2009) focused on e-learning’s impact on professional identity, a Master of Science in Healthcare Ethics (1998), and a Bachelor of Education. Her research emphasizes patient choice, ethical challenges, and the integration of innovative technologies in healthcare education. She is affiliated with organizations like the European Health Management Association and the Royal College of Nursing.

Her recent research explores the implementation of technological advancements in healthcare, such as smartphone apps for remote patient monitoring, and the qualitative analysis of healthcare professionals’ experiences. This work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and healthcare improvements.
