Jill Zimmerman

Jill Zimmerman is a Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Goucher College, where she has taught since 1990. She has led Goucher's robotics lab since 2006, focusing on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of robotics, software development, and programming languages. Her recent work includes a paper on hybrid programming paradigms published in Computer Languages, Systems, and Structures.

Her research interests emphasize collaborative learning and innovation in technology. She oversees robotics projects involving Armand, Otto, and Anna—experimental machines designed for tasks like tic-tac-toe gameplay and environmental mapping. Zimmerman’s approach integrates hands-on design challenges, encouraging students to synthesize technical skills into creative computing artifacts.
