Jili Sun is an Associate Professor of Instruction at Northwestern University, affiliated with the Department of Chinese Language and Culture. She holds a B.A. in French Literature from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, an M.A. in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from University Jussieu (Paris VII), and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from University Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III). Her doctoral thesis, completed in 2006, focused on the acquisition of temporality (tense and aspect) in second-language learners of French and Chinese.
Her research interests include second language acquisition, pedagogy, cultural interaction in language learning, and narration analysis. She also explores religious studies, holding a DEUG in Christian Studies from the Catholic Institute of Paris.
Dr. Sun’s work emphasizes cross-cultural linguistic comparisons, particularly between French and Chinese, and their implications for language teaching methodologies.
