About
Dr. Jie Han is the Roy A. Roberts Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering at the University of Kansas. His research advances geotechnical engineering solutions for infrastructure systems, with emphasis on soil-structure interaction and sustainable materials.
His work integrates theoretical modeling with experimental validation across three primary domains: geosynthetic-reinforced soil systems, ground improvement techniques, and sustainable infrastructure design. Recent publications demonstrate innovations in piled embankments and geocell stabilization methods.
Professional leadership includes past presidency of the International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals and chairmanship of the ASCE Geo-Institute Soil Improvement Committee. He serves on editorial boards for multiple geotechnical engineering journals.
