Jie Deng

Jie Deng, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the UCLA Department of Radiation Oncology within the David Geffen School of Medicine. As a physician-scientist, she maintains clinical appointments across multiple UCLA Health locations including Westwood Radiation Oncology, Santa Monica Radiation Oncology, and Santa Clarita Radiation Oncology, where she treats patients with thoracic and gastrointestinal malignancies.

Dr. Deng's research program specializes in myeloid cell biology within the tumor microenvironment. Her work investigates how myeloid cells - the predominant cellular subset in many tumors - can be reprogrammed from immunosuppressive functions toward initiating durable anti-tumor immunity. This research bridges radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and cancer progression with significant implications for treatment resistance and metastasis. Her clinical expertise includes advanced radiation techniques such as stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and magnetic resonance-guided radiation therapy (MRgRT) for lung and gastrointestinal cancers.
