Jiawei Han is a Professor of Computer Science at the Siebel School of Computing and Data Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is renowned for his contributions to data mining, information network analysis, and database systems, with over 500 publications. He has chaired program committees for major conferences like KDD, SDM, and ICDM, and serves as founding Editor-In-Chief of ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data. He leads the Information Network Academic Research Center supported by the U.S. Army Research Lab.
His research focuses on integrated mining of multiple social and information networks, introducing methodologies like integrated ranking/clustering, classification, role discovery, and structure-guided reasoning.
