About
Dr. Jian Pan is a Lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering at The University of New South Wales (UNSW). He holds a dual PhD in Chemical Engineering (University of Queensland) and Materials Science & Engineering (Chinese Academy of Sciences), along with a BSc in Materials Chemistry from China University of Petroleum. His research focuses on electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, and solar energy conversion technologies, particularly in CO₂ reduction, water splitting, and the development of advanced catalytic materials.
Prior to his current role, he served as an ARC DECRA Fellow (2019–present) and held positions including Laboratory Manager of the UNSW-BUCT-CWRU International Joint Laboratory (2018–2019). His work spans collaborations with leading researchers such as Prof. Rose Amal and Prof. San Ping Jiang, addressing challenges in renewable energy and sustainable chemistry.
Pan’s publications emphasize catalyst design, solar-driven hydrogen production, and hybrid materials for energy storage. He has received the ARC DECRA Fellowship, underscoring his contributions to early-career research excellence. His expertise bridges fundamental materials science with applied engineering solutions for environmental and energy challenges.
