Jian Deng

Dr. Jian Deng is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Civil Engineering at Lakehead University, Canada, with an adjunct appointment at the University of Waterloo. A licensed professional engineer in Ontario, he brings over 30 years of experience in research, education, and industry to his work in dynamic stability, geotechnical engineering, and mining engineering.

• Dynamic instability of structures
• Geohazards and structural reliability
• Rock mechanics and underground excavations
• Nonlinear dynamics and stochastic mechanics
