Dr. Jian Cheng Qi is a Senior Lecturer at the St George and Sutherland Clinical School under the Faculty of Medicine at The University of New South Wales (UNSW). He is affiliated with St George Hospital as a Consultant in Infectious Disease, Immunology, and Sexual Health, working under the mentorship of Conjoint Professor Steven Krilis, Head of the Department of Infectious Disease, Immunology, and Sexual Health at UNSW. His research focuses on autoimmune disease mechanisms and mast cell biology.
Dr. Qi’s research explores two primary areas: (1) the role of Beta 2-glycoprotein I (beta 2-GPI) in antiphospholipid syndrome and its implications for lipid metabolism and cardiovascular disease using beta 2-GPI knockout mice, and (2) identifying mast cell receptors for IL-16 and their involvement in inflammation, asthma, and HIV-1 infection. His work bridges infectious diseases, immunology, and cardiovascular medicine.
