Jia Lu

Jia Lu is an Assistant Professor in Finance at Heriot-Watt University, affiliated with the School of Social Sciences and Edinburgh Business School. He holds roles including Postgraduate Finance Programme Director for multiple MSc programs and Finance lead for workload management. He is a member of the University Senate. Previously, he was a lecturer at Liverpool Hope University (2017–2020) and earned his PhD in Banking & Finance from Glasgow Caledonian University (2017).

His research focuses on corporate governance, risk-taking behavior, firm performance, financial technology, ESG, and sustainable finance. He teaches courses such as Fundamentals of Financial Technology, Contemporary Issues in Finance, and Capital Markets, and leads the Graduate Apprenticeship in Fintech.
