Jesús Ricote

Jesús Ricote is a Tenured Scientist at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and Deputy Director of the Materials Science Institute of Madrid. His research focuses on ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials, thin film fabrication, and advanced material characterization techniques like piezoresponse force microscopy. Ricote has held roles such as Director of the CSIC Postgraduate Course on Frontiers in Materials Science and has contributed to prestigious platforms like the IEEE-UFCC Society.

Education: Ricote earned a Degree in Physics (1990) and a PhD in Physics (1994) from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. His postdoctoral work spanned institutions in France, the UK, and Spain, including Cranfield University and the Institut de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid.

Research Interests: Ricote’s work explores local functional properties of materials using scanning probe microscopy, low-temperature thin film deposition for flexible electronics, and magnetoelectric composite systems. His studies also address microstructural analysis, texture characterization, and the development of nanoscale functional materials.

Publications: Co-author of over 100 scientific papers and book chapters, Ricote has edited volumes on ferroelectric materials and served as an associate editor for journals like Textures, Stress and Microstructure. His recent work emphasizes solution-based methods for sustainable material synthesis and multifunctional thin films.

Supervision and Management: Ricote has supervised three PhD students and held leadership roles in CSIC, including Deputy Vice President for Internationalization (2012–2014). He currently chairs the Ferroelectrics Technical Standing Committee of the IEEE-UFCC Society.

Labs and Teams: His research leverages advanced labs for thin film preparation, low-temperature processing, and piezoresponse force microscopy. Collaborative projects address challenges in flexible electronics and nanoscale material functionality.
