Jessica Wagenseil is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science and Vice Dean for Faculty Advancement at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU), part of the McKelvey School of Engineering. She holds a DSc from WashU (2003) and a BS in Bioengineering from UC San Diego (1997). Her postdoctoral work (2008) focused on elastin assembly under Dr. Robert Mecham at WashU's School of Medicine.

- Cardiovascular mechanics, arterial development, and disease
- Mechanical properties of bio-artificial tissues and extracellular matrix proteins
- Microstructurally-based constitutive modeling for clinical intervention testing
- Tissue-engineered blood vessel design
