Jessica Siewert

Jessica Siewert is a Special Instructor in Nutrition at the School of Health Sciences, Oakland University, where she contributes to the education of future health professionals. Her office is located in the Human Health Building, and she is actively involved in teaching and mentoring.

Educational Background:

• MPH in Public Health (International Concentration), Liberty University
• B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics, Central Michigan University

Her teaching focuses on Medical Nutrition Therapy, grounded in over 25 years of professional experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). Her expertise spans clinical nutrition, community health programs, diabetes self-management education, and international nutrition initiatives in South Africa, Mali, and eSwatini. She has worked with large primary-care organizations to improve population health outcomes at state and national levels.

Jessica has served as a preceptor and mentor for aspiring dietitians, supporting professional development in clinical and public health nutrition. She is actively engaged with professional organizations including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, and the Michigan Collaborative for Type 2 Diabetes.

Her personal interests include gardening, raising backyard chickens, and enjoying African cuisine, reflecting her deep connection to food, culture, and sustainability.
