Jessica Lockhart

Jessica Lockhart is a Lecturer in Media Studies and Program Director of WMPG Radio at the University of Southern Maine. She specializes in radio journalism, audio storytelling, and documentary production with over 15 years of industry experience. Her work includes award-winning features on poverty in America through the annual Homelessness Marathon Broadcast and weekly podcast production for Audible.com.

• Education: BA in Communication from the University of Southern Maine

Her research interests focus on the intersection of media and social justice, leveraging audio platforms to amplify underrepresented voices. As a National Endowment for the Arts Fellow in Dance Criticism, she bridges artistic expression with community engagement.

Award-winning journalist recognized by state and national broadcasting organizations, Lockhart teaches CMS 222 (Digital Radio & Audio Production) and CMS 322 (Digital Audio Storytelling). She has produced content for national broadcasts since 1994 and maintains active involvement in independent media initiatives.
