Jessica Hamer

Dr. Jessica Hamer is a Researcher at King's College London, affiliated with the School of Education, Communication & Society and the Institute of Physics' education team. She leads the SCARI computing project, exploring gender disparities in computing education and is part of CRESTEM (Centre for Research in Education in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). Her work focuses on barriers to STEM subject choice, diversity in physics education, and teacher recruitment.

Education: PhD in Palaeoclimatology, 10+ years as a secondary science teacher and teacher trainer.

Research Interests: Investigates how parental influence and curriculum design affect subject choices, particularly for girls in computing and physics. Advocates for systemic reforms to improve gender equity in STEM education.
