Jessica Halonen

Professor Jessica Halonen teaches drawing, painting, design, and composition courses at Trinity University. She holds an M.F.A. in Painting from Washington University in Saint Louis (1999) and a B.A. from Kalamazoo College.

Her studio practice integrates painting, sculpture, and installation, exploring dysfunctional biological systems through imagery influenced by historical and contemporary medical science, such as pharmaceutical supplies, botanical illustrations, and textbook diagrams. This work bridges formal artistic techniques with conceptual inquiries into balance and control.

Halonen’s art has been exhibited at institutions like the Austin Museum of Art, Dallas Center for Contemporary Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and University of Texas at Dallas. Her work is part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and The Museum of Southeast Texas.
