Jesse van Weelderen is a Researcher at Utrecht University, currently pursuing his PhD at the Centre of Expertise in Palliative Care Utrecht. He obtained his medical degree in 2022 from Utrecht University and worked for two years as a resident in Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology and Hepatology, as well as in the Emergency Department, before transitioning to his PhD trajectory.
His research focuses on optimizing the appropriate use of medications in the palliative phase at home, addressing the discontinuation of unnecessary medications for chronic, incurable diseases. He is actively involved in the PASVORM project, which aims to implement routine medication reviews in general practice during the palliative phase. His ambition is to integrate his PhD work with the general practitioner training program.
