About
Jesse Klostranec is an Assistant Professor of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at McGill University's Faculty of Medicine, based at the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (The Neuro) and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). He is a dual-certified diagnostic neuroradiologist and neurointerventional radiologist specializing in cerebrovascular and cerebrospinal fluid disorders.
His educational background includes a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and a BEng in Aerospace Engineering, complemented by clinical training at the University of Toronto and Université de Montréal. He completed his fellowship in 2020 before joining MUHC.
Dr. Klostranec's research centers on the glymphatic system and cerebrospinal fluid dynamics, developing imaging techniques to assess neurological pathologies including dementias, hydrocephalus, and stroke. His work bridges biomedical engineering and clinical neuroradiology, with additional focus on dysfunctional angiogenesis and therapeutic device development. Recent publications demonstrate expertise in neurovascular embryology, glymphatic imaging, and sex-specific contrast reaction mechanisms.
His clinical practice encompasses mechanical thrombectomy, vascular embolization, angioplasty/stenting, and minimally invasive spine procedures. As a core member of The Neuro's Stroke Unit, he contributes to advancing interventional stroke care while maintaining active research in neurological fluid dynamics and vascular malformations.
