Jerzy Wujtewicz

Jerzy Wujtewicz is an Associate Professor of Cello at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where he has served for over 42 years. He specializes in cello performance, pedagogy, and the historical evolution of string instrument techniques. A graduate of music schools in Gdynia and Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz, he further honed his skills at conservatories in Kyiv and Moscow under prestigious mentors.

His research extends beyond performance to include teaching methodologies and innovative developments in cello accessories, notably collaborating with Presto (Gdańsk) to produce high-quality cello strings now distributed internationally under the Prestans and Rostanvo brands. His work has earned endorsements from renowned cellists like Janos Starker and Professor Stefan Popov.

As an artist, he has performed across Europe (Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, etc.), the USA, and beyond, including tours with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic and Baltic Opera. His pedagogical legacy includes over 50 graduates active in Polish and international music institutions, with notable student Karol Sokołowski achieving competition success in Europe and beyond.
