Jerry Anderson is the Richard M. and Anita Calkins Distinguished Professor of Law at Drake University's Drake Law School. His academic career spans over three decades, including roles as a professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and legal practice as an attorney. He holds a JD from Stanford Law School (Order of the Coif) and a BS from the University of Kansas (with distinction).
Anderson's research focuses on Administrative Law, Environmental Law, Natural Resources Law, and Property. He has authored influential books such as Property Law: Practice, Problems and Perspectives and Environmental Law Practice: Problems and Exercises for Skills Development. His recent work explores topics like environmental penalties, legal leadership, and conservation ethics.
Notable publications include analyses of Iowa’s administrative rules review procedures, private enforcement of animal cruelty laws in Britain, and comparative property rights frameworks. His scholarship bridges legal theory with practical implications for policy and governance.
Anderson has received prestigious awards, including membership in the American Law Institute and the American College of Environmental Lawyers. He was honored twice as Drake Law’s Leland Forrest Outstanding Professor.
