Professor Jermaine Ravalier serves as Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), a position assumed in February 2024 following his role as Professor of Organisational Psychology and Social Justice at Bath Spa University. His academic career commenced in 2012 at Newham College and progressed through a lectureship at the University of Westminster where he secured his first British Academy/Leverhulme research grant.
Dr. Ravalier's research program centers on enhancing the psychological health and wellbeing of professionals across health, allied health, social care, and social work sectors. Funded by the Department for Health and Social Care, ESRC, Social Care Wales (£150,000), and NIHR (£600,000), his projects include the 'Have Your Say' survey, qualitative deep dives, and Best Practice Guidance development for social worker recruitment in coastal communities across England.
As a global ambassador for the Social Workers Union (SWU) and key collaborator with the British Association of Social Workers (BASW), he developed Best Practice Guidance for social worker reflective supervision and evaluated the Professional Capabilities Framework used nationwide in social work education. Currently supervising four PhD students, he joined BNU's University Strategy Group in April 2025 and actively seeks new research collaborations and PhD candidates.
