Jerker Lessing is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University, a role he has held since 2017. He is also the CEO and founder of Lessing Innovation, an advisory firm specializing in construction industrialization and sustainability. Previously, he served as Director of Research & Development at BoKlok (2015–2023), a Swedish leader in industrialized housing. His professional career spans over two decades in consulting, innovation, and academic engagement across the construction sector.
Lessing holds a PhD from Lund University (Sweden), focusing on strategic aspects of industrialized construction. His research emphasizes frameworks for contemporary industrialized construction, impacting both academia and industry globally. At Stanford, he pioneered the course CEE324 (Industrialized Construction), organized annual industry-academia forums, and led study trips to Sweden for students and faculty.
His research interests include modular construction systems, business model innovation, sustainability in construction, and the integration of digital manufacturing. He has published extensively in international journals and co-authored a seminal book on industrialized construction.
