Jeremy Hess

Jeremy Hess is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health at Emory University and concurrently serves as a Professor at the University of Washington. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. As Senior Medical Advisor to the Climate and Health Program at the CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health, he focuses on climate change health impacts and adaptation strategies.

• Education: MD (2003), MPH (2003), and Emergency Medicine Residency from Emory University.

His research spans climate change health effects, extreme weather events, health systems preparedness, and energy sustainability in healthcare. Notably, he contributed as a Lead Author to the IPCC SREX report and the US National Climate Assessment. He received a 2010 Presidential GreenGov award for his work on climate change and health.

He advises on disaster response, global health policy, and integrates clinical practice with public health research. His affiliations include CDC’s environmental health division and cross-departmental collaborations at Emory.
