Jeremy Fein

Dr. Jeremy Fein is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at the University of Notre Dame, affiliated with the College of Engineering. His research focuses on geomicrobiology and actinide mineral solubility, addressing heavy metal and radionuclide fate in groundwater systems. He leads the Experimental Geochemistry and Geomicrobiology Lab and the Center for Environmental Science and Technology (CEST).

Research emphasizes bacterial-metal interactions, including adsorption, redox reactions, and precipitation mechanisms, with applications to nuclear waste management and environmental remediation. Key projects include thermodynamic modeling of actinide mineral stability and surface complexation controls on metal bioavailability.
