Jenny Rong Cao is an Instructor of Strings at Arkansas State University, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Communication, Department of Music. She is a Memphis-based educator, soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral cellist with extensive performance and teaching experience across various institutions.
Her educational background includes a Master of Music from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Music from East China Normal University. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Memphis.
Jenny Rong Cao's research and artistic interests focus on cello performance, music education, chamber music, and the promotion of cello works by women composers. As an educator, she has taught Applied Cello, Music Appreciation, and Chamber Music at multiple institutions, emphasizing the transformative power of music education.
Her performance career includes appearances as a soloist and ensemble member in notable events such as the Memphis Indie Movie Festival, performances of the national anthem at NBA games for the Memphis Grizzlies, and participation in music festivals like the Tucson Cello Congress and Shanghai Spring Music Festival. She has served as principal cellist in the University of Memphis Orchestra and is currently a sectional cellist with the Delta Symphony Orchestra.
Jenny is actively engaged in the music community through performances, teaching, and advanced academic study. She contributes to music education as a coach at Collierville High School, Blue Lake Music Camp, Interlochen Music Camp, and Arts for Life’s Sake in Memphis.
