Jenny Lo

Jenny Lo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Engineering Education at Virginia Tech, part of the College of Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (1999) and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University (1994). Since 2001, she has focused on teaching first-year engineering courses and curriculum development, with significant contributions to engineering ethics education and pedagogical innovation.

Her research interests include curriculum design, educational technology, and service-learning integration in engineering education. Notable projects include the ROXIE outreach initiative and the AdWiki advising knowledge system. She has received multiple awards including the Nunnally Award (2013) and co-authored the Wickenden Award-winning paper on engineering ethics (2009).

Dr. Lo serves on key committees such as the ENGE undergraduate curriculum committee and chairs the ENGE honorifics committee. She has advised the Alpha Omega Epsilon sorority since 2006 and contributed to institutional roles like the VT Women’s Alliance Subcommittee. Her teaching focuses on enhancing student perceptions of engineering disciplines through career showcases and active-learning strategies in large-enrollment courses.

Her publications span first-year engineering pedagogy, ethics education, and technology integration, reflecting her commitment to improving STEM education through innovative curricula and student-centered approaches.
