Jenny Clark

Professor Jenny Clark is a faculty member at the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, University of Sheffield, where she serves as Head of the Materials and Biological Physics Research Cluster. She holds a PhD in Physics (2003-2007, Cambridge University) and an MSci in Physics with a Year in Europe (First Class, Imperial College London).

In her research, she utilizes ultrafast spectroscopy to investigate photophysics in carbon-based materials, including organic semiconductors and biological systems. Key areas of focus include singlet exciton fission, triplet-pair dynamics, ultrafast charge separation, and nonlinear optical absorption in graphene. She co-leads a new laser facility at Sheffield with advanced spectroscopy stations for UV/VIS-NIR pump-probe, time-resolved IR/Raman, and photoluminescence studies.

As part of the Electronic and Photonic Molecular Materials Group (EPMM) and Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy Laboratory, she collaborates on projects involving organic photovoltaics, optofluidic devices, and molecular weight-dependent polaron delocalization. She has supervised postdoctoral researchers and students in studies of electron-hole dynamics, conformational changes, and triplet formation.
