Jennifer Westacott

Professor Jennifer Westacott AC is currently the Chancellor of Western Sydney University, starting in January 2023, making her the first woman to hold this role. Previously, she served as Chief Executive of the Business Council of Australia for 12 years, advocating for economic growth through business policies. Her career also includes senior leadership roles in the NSW and Victorian governments, such as Director General of the NSW Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources and Secretary of the Victorian Department of Education and Training.

Her research interests lie in public and private sector collaboration, business, and public policy, reflecting her extensive experience in government and corporate advisory roles. She has advised major corporations on climate change and sustainability and guided governments on reform priorities.

Professor Westacott has been recognized with the Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in 2025 for her contributions to business, higher education, mental health, and public service.
