Jennifer Weiss

Jennifer Weiss serves as Director of the Center for Writing Excellence and Learning Assistance Programs at Southeast Missouri State University. A lifelong member of the SEMO community, she grew up a block from campus and earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the university, where she has worked continuously since graduation.

Dr. Weiss specializes in writing pedagogy and academic support systems. She teaches composition courses (EN100, EN140) and university seminars (UI100, UI101), emphasizing transformative learning experiences where challenges become opportunities. Her philosophy asserts that 'learning isn’t always easy, but it should be exciting—even fun at times!—and will always be rewarding.'

She progressed from adjunct instructor to Writing Associate, then coordinator, and now directs both academic support centers. Under her leadership, these programs provide foundational writing and learning strategy resources across SEMO.
