Jennifer Stager is an Assistant Professor in the Department of the History of Art at Johns Hopkins University, affiliated with the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on Ancient Mediterranean art and its afterlives, with emphasis on color theory, materiality, disability studies, and intersections of art and medicine. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
Her key works include Seeing Color in Classical Art: Theory, Practice, and Reception from Antiquity to the Present (Cambridge University Press, 2022) and an in-progress book, Making Medicine: The Craft of Ancient Greek Medicine. She leads the Antioch Recovery Project (ARP), digitizing dispersed Antioch mosaics, and curated An Archaeology of Disability for La Biennale di Venezia Architettura.
Her honors include fellowships from the Getty Research Institute and Johns Hopkins Catalyst Award. Stager collaborates on exhibitions and publishes in journals like Hesperia and Classical Receptions Journal.
