Jennifer Smailes

Jennifer Smailes is a Researcher and Doctoral Student (SNF) at the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art (HSLU), based in Bremen, Germany. Her work critically examines art institutions as frameworks for empowerment and polyphonic discourse. She focuses on the appropriation of psychotherapeutic methods in contemporary art through her PhD project.

Her research interests include curatorial practices as political processes, exhibition-making, and the role of art in fostering agency. She is involved in the SNF-funded project "Biennalisierung der Landschaft oder kulturell geleitete Regionalentwicklung?", exploring cultural impacts on regional development.
