Jennifer Scott is a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Reading (0.6 FTE) and holds part-time roles as a Principal Researcher and STFC IM Fellow at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (0.3 FTE). She leads the Computational Mathematics Group and directs the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Mathematics for Future Climate (2024–present). Her research focuses on sparse linear algebra, numerical analysis, and large-scale computational methods, with contributions to the HSL mathematical software library.

Research Interests: Jennifer’s work emphasizes sparse matrix algorithms, preconditioning techniques, and scalable numerical methods for scientific computing. She has pioneered advancements in sparse direct solvers, out-of-core techniques, and limited memory preconditioners. Her contributions to HSL have enabled efficient solutions to large-scale linear systems in engineering and environmental modeling.
