Jennifer Root

Dr. Jennifer Root is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of the BSW Program at the Lyle S. Hallman Faculty of Social Work, Wilfrid Laurier University. Her expertise centers on gender-based violence, sexual violence, and intimate partner violence, with a focus on help-seeking behaviors, structural violences, and feminist social work methodologies. She employs critical qualitative research approaches to explore resistance strategies and systemic issues in violence prevention.

Her research integrates theoretical frameworks from social work and feminist studies to advocate for marginalized communities. Dr. Root's work emphasizes practical applications in social work education and clinical practice, aiming to bridge academic insights with real-world interventions.
