Jennifer Rasmussen

Jennifer Rasmussen is a Professor of Education and Department Chair at Mount Mercy University. She holds an MA in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University and is a Doctoral Candidate in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Northern Iowa. Her certifications include K-6 Elementary teaching, K-8 Reading, and Reading Recovery training.

With nine years of elementary teaching experience in Nevada and seven years in integrated multiage primary classrooms, Rasmussen emphasizes holistic teacher preparation, focusing on student-teacher dynamics and classroom environments beyond academics. She teaches courses like Diagnostic/Prescriptive Reading and Foundations of Reading.

Rasmussen is an active member of the International Reading Association, ASCD, and the Iowa State Education Association, contributing to educational advocacy and professional development. Her research interests center on effective teaching practices, literacy development, and curriculum design.
