Jennifer R. Henrichsen is an Assistant Professor at the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, Washington State University. She serves as Research Director for the Washington Local News Ecosystem Project and holds affiliations with Yale Law School’s Information Society Project, the University of Pennsylvania’s Media, Inequality & Change Center, and the VICEROY Northwest Institute for Cybersecurity Education and Research (CySER). Henrichsen’s expertise spans journalism, cybersecurity, and democratic systems, with a focus on protecting knowledge institutions from technological threats.

Henrichsen’s publications include three books (National Security, Journalism, and Law in an Age of Information Warfare [Oxford, 2024], Journalism After Snowden [Columbia, 2017], War on Words [Praeger, 2011]) and 12 peer-reviewed articles. Her work has been cited over 300 times by entities like the U.S. Government and UN.
Awarded 12 fellowships including the 2025 Andrew Carnegie Fellowship, Fulbright Research Scholar, and Knight Foundation grants, she has presented 80+ times globally. Henrichsen teaches courses on:
