Dr. Jennifer Pellowski is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Brown University and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Town. Her primary affiliation is with Hartford Healthcare in Connecticut as a Senior Scientist/Grant Writer. She holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Connecticut (2015) and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Child/Adolescent Biobehavioral HIV research at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School and Rhode Island Hospital.
Her research focuses on implementing interventions to improve women’s, maternal, and child health globally, particularly in South Africa. Key areas include PrEP implementation among OB/GYNs, HIV’s impact on child cardiometabolic health, and addressing social determinants of health. She has conducted mixed-methods studies on topics like gestational weight management, postpartum mental health, and stigma reduction in healthcare contexts.
Dr. Pellowski is dedicated to mentorship, guiding PhD, MPH, and undergraduate students, as well as early-career faculty. She leads capacity-building initiatives for South African researchers and collaborates with the WHIT Research Group. Her work emphasizes community engagement and policy-relevant outcomes in global health equity.
Her grant activities include NIH-funded implementation science programs and partnerships with international health organizations. She advocates for scalable solutions to address systemic barriers in healthcare access and maternal-child health outcomes in resource-limited settings.
