About
Jennifer Patience is a Professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University (ASU), located on the Tempe campus. Her research focuses on astrophysics, particularly star and planet formation. She uses ground-based and space-based telescopes to study young giant planets, brown dwarfs, and their circumstellar disks through infrared imaging and millimeter interferometry. Additionally, she contributes to innovative undergraduate research and teaching programs aimed at diverse student participation.
Education:
- PhD in Astronomy, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), 2000
- Postdoctoral Researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Lab
- Michelson Postdoctoral Fellowship at Caltech
Research Interests: Her work bridges observational astronomy and theoretical astrophysics, emphasizing exoplanet detection, disk dynamics, and atmospheric modeling of substellar objects. She actively integrates cutting-edge observational techniques to explore planetary system evolution.
Teaching & Outreach: She leads initiatives to enhance undergraduate research opportunities, fostering inclusivity in STEM through hands-on projects and mentorship.
