Dr. Jennifer Murphy is Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Surrey, investigating interoception (perception of bodily states) and its role in mental health across development. Her award-winning research examines sex differences in physiological awareness and connections to anxiety, autism, and emotional processing.
Murphy's lab uses behavioral experiments and psychophysiological measures to study how interoceptive abilities shape social cognition. She leads the Building Resilience through Socio-Emotional Training project and has developed novel assessment methodologies, including the Phase Adjustment Task for cardiac perception measurement.
