Jennifer McDermitt is an Assistant Professor and Program Lead for Marketing Communications at Northwood University, alongside pursuing a Ph.D. in the Department of Advertising & Public Relations at Michigan State University. Her work focuses on older adults' media behaviors, digital immigration, political ideology, cultural values, and the dynamics of misinformation dissemination in this demographic.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Eastern Michigan University, where her graduate work secured a 1st Place Gold award in the national Marketing Edge ECHO Campaign Challenge.
Her research integrates interdisciplinary themes, spanning communication theory, digital sociology, political psychology, and information science, with a practical emphasis on real-world marketing challenges. At Northwood, she oversees academic programming in Marketing Communications and draws on over two decades of industry experience in advertising, marketing, and corporate communications to inform her teaching and scholarship.
