Jennifer Martin

Jennifer Martin is Senior Lecturer in Communication at Deakin University's School of Communication and Creative Arts. She holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne.

Her research investigates how journalism evokes emotions and promotes civic virtues, with particular focus on gender/race representation. She developed the "Virtue Map" framework for analyzing award-winning storytelling. Current projects include the Walkley Digital Archive preserving Australian journalism history.

Publications examine literary journalism, social justice reporting, and Indigenous representation in media, emphasizing narrative techniques and ethical dimensions.

She teaches communication, feature writing, and multimedia journalism. Supervises doctoral candidates on trauma narratives and media reform.

Collaborations include the Walkley Foundation for digitizing historical journalism collections.
